What this work really involves

Paint becomes the home you live in, or the office you work in. Every interior job we run in the Inland Empire starts from the same premise: protect the house like we own it, properly prepare and properly paint the surfaces.

Rooms are personal, and so is the disruption of painting them. The crew you get has done this in hundreds of occupied homes: same painters daily, tools staged tight, pets respected, and the day’s end leaving you a livable house every single evening. That includes people who live in associations and get letters about how the property is kept.

Who calls for this: families refreshing lived-in rooms before holidays, owners prepping to sell who need every wall listing-ready, landlords turning units on real deadlines, and people who just finished floors or a remodel and want walls that match the new standard. If your walls are the last tired thing in the room, this is the visit.

You are not expected to clear out or stay out of the way. Tell the painters what would make the days easier on your household, and they will plan their work around it while keeping the pace up.

How the job runs, start to finish

1

Walk and protect

Floors masked at edges and covered with drop cloths. Furniture draped with lightweight plastic sheeting. Lights, fans, sockets, and switches are masked off, and wall plates removed, then reinstalled when the paint has dried. Protection is also inventory: we note pre-existing dings so the end-of-job walkthrough is honest in both directions.

2

Repair and prep

Nail holes, cracks, and dings filled and sanded. Glossy surfaces deglossed. Stains sealed with the right primer so they never ghost through. Spot texturing, and/or whole wall texturing as needed. Glossy surfaces get scuffed until the new finish has something mechanical to grip.

3

Cut and Roll, or Mask and Spray

Cut lines are clean and crisp, while the roll coat is thick and blended. Spraying involves more masking. It applies more and thicker paint than rolling, but gives the cleanest and straightest lines. Sheen evenness is checked from the window side, where roller flashing hides.

4

Walkthrough and Count

The foreman will not call the job finished until you have walked it together. If a line is off or a spot needs another pass, it gets done while the crew and the paint are still on site. Once you are satisfied, the crew disposes of the paint related trash properly, sweeps the floors, and returns everything they moved to where it was.

Products and specs, named out loud

The paint and materials used are the best in the painting industry. We prefer to use Ultra-Premium paints, and the proper paint for each surface. The water based ultra-premium paints used these days dry much faster than the oil based paints of yester year, and look great. Sheen gets chosen with you in your own light, because eggshell in a showroom and eggshell in a north-facing hallway are two different animals.

There is a real difference between the paint sold on price and the paint sold on datasheet, and it shows up two years in, not at the walkthrough. We use professional lines whose spread rates, scrub ratings, and touch-up behavior we know from thousands of gallons, and we will happily explain why a specific product earned its place on your walls.

Built for this valley

Look at the bottom of almost any wall or fence out here and you will find the sprinkler line. Hard water leaves a mineral crust that paint will not hold onto, and painting over it is how a new finish starts flaking along the base within a season or two. In the Inland Empire that is normal, so our prep treats it as normal: the crust comes off and the surface gets checked before anything else happens. Then the coating goes on, at the amount the manufacturer specifies.

It also means our references are drivable. Ask on the walk-through and we will point at work within a few miles of your address, aged enough to prove the point.

What the shortcut version costs

Skipped interior prep shows fast: patches that flash through the sheen, tape lines at the ceiling, roller marks in side light, and colors that need a third coat because the first was stretched. The cost of doing it wrong is doing it again, with furniture moved twice.

There is also the quiet cost: living through a bad job twice. Furniture moved again, rooms lost again, the smell again, and the negotiation with a contractor who already has your money. Interior work rewards getting it right once, more than almost any purchase in a home.

A low price is usually built from something left out, like prep that never happens or paint stretched past the spec. The owner watched an employer do the second one job after job. Show us what you were quoted and we will point out what is there and what is not.

Work that pairs with this

Combining work saves you a second round of setup and protection. These pair well with this service:

Where we do it

We take this work anywhere within 50 miles of our Jurupa Valley shop. Cities we get called to most often:

Scheduling, communication, and what to expect

Your part takes very little time. A few minutes on the phone sets up the walkthrough, and the walkthrough itself goes quickly, ending with a price. If you say yes, the job goes on the calendar. From there the crew handles it, cleaning the site at the end of every day, and the foreman who ran the work walks it with you when it is done.

Before you call

Nothing is required but your name, address and phone number. We may suggest other surfaces that need painting, that you might not have noticed. Photos by text help when a fast answer matters.

Questions to ask any painter, including us

Ask any painter how much paint your job calls for and where that number comes from. The right answer points to the manufacturer’s spec on the can. Then ask how mid-job changes get priced. Ours are written up and approved before anyone paints them.

Terms worth knowing

Words from this corner of the trade, so any bid you read makes sense:

Cutting in. Painting the precision edges at ceilings, corners, and trim by brush before rolling the field.

Flashing. Sheen differences where patches or touch-ups reflect light differently than the surrounding wall.

Back-rolling. Rolling over freshly applied paint to even the film and work it into texture.

Spread rate. The coverage printed on the can: square feet per gallon, printed by the manufacturer for every product.

End of job walkthrough and guarantee

We firmly stand behind our workmanship and the materials we use. Our standard warranty is 4 years from the date of completion. Most paint stores recommend painting your trim every 4 years to keep your home in excellent condition.

The owner’s own words for it: if you can’t do it right, then find something you can do right, so you don’t make the customers into victims. He settled on that after years of watching corners cut on other people’s houses, and it is the standard this crew still works to.

Straight answers

Do we have to move out while you paint?

Almost no one does. If someone in the house is sensitive to paint smell, tell us at the walkthrough and we will plan the order of rooms around it. The water based paints we use dry quickly and have far less odor than oil paints did.

How do you protect floors and furniture?

Hard floor protection on travel paths, film and drop systems in work rooms, and furniture wrapped and floated to the center. Protection is the first hour of every interior day.

Can you match the existing wall color?

A fan deck of paint colors is used to select a color that is a very close, if not an exact match. Then the wall will need to be painted corner to corner.

What sheen should I pick for walls?

The contractor will recommend sheens, based on customer needs, and provide the customer with a sheen chart.

Do you fix nail pops and cracks first?

Every time. Filling and sanding wall damage is inside the quote, not an extra that appears later. Paint over damage is damage with better lighting.

Can you work around my furniture?

Yes. We float pieces to room centers, wrap them fully, and move them back placed as found. Emptying rooms helps but is never required.

How fast can you get me a ballpark?

Usually while we are still standing in your driveway. We measure, talk through what you want, and most walk-throughs end with a number on the spot and the written version the next morning.

Are you licensed and insured?

We have liability insurance and workman’s compensation insurance on every one of our workers.

Where do you work?

If you are within 50 miles of Jurupa Valley, you are in range. That covers a big share of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. Not sure? Call with your address and we will tell you.

Who actually shows up?

First the contractor, and sometimes his son and job foreman Justin. Later, it will be the foreman and 2 other crew members. At the end of the job, it will be the job foreman to do the final walkthrough. Keep in mind that this crew has a combined painting experience of more than 100 years. Our workers are our employees.

Do you use subcontractors?

Not on any job. Our employees do all of the work, which is how the crew keeps one standard from prep through cleanup.

What happens if weather interrupts an exterior job?

A short delay. The foreman finds a sensible place to stop and protects what has been done, then tells you when the crew will be back. The job still gets finished the way it was planned.

Put a number on it

Fifty years is how long the owner has been painting, and the crew together has more than a hundred. Put that to work on your project: book the walkthrough, and the price comes at that same appointment. It will be priced on the paint the manufacturer calls for, every coat.
